WHY USE A BROKER?
There are three key elements to selling a boat
- Professional broker
Knowing the market, how to best get the boat to market and having a regular customer database.
- Presentation
How to build a proper specification and how to present the boat and with what inventory.
- Price
Knowing the value of the product and being able to research current asking and selling prices to post the correct asking price. Get this wrong and it will prolong the period it takes a boat to sell or worse you sell it for too little!
As brokers, Nick Stratton Yachts:
- Give an accurate valuation in the current market. We have system access to current prices, recent sales and price trends.
- Prepare comprehensive specifications with web specific criteria and key words with web specific photographs.
- Inspect your boat and advise you how to prepare it and maintain it while it's for sale.
We can also arrange -
- Discounted brokerage berthing and hard storage via our special arrangement with Quay Marina.
- Regular cleaning via our on site partners Sceneclean.
- Finance and Insurance packages and a list of qualified Surveyors .
As your broker it is our job to sell your boat as quickly as possible and sell it for the right price.
We have an active database of people looking to purchase yachts and motor boats. It is likely we have customers we can interest in your boat who are actively looking via our database!
We subscribe to Yachtworld, the largest marine sales system available - ensuring that your boat's details are made available to buyers throughout the UK, Europe and across the World. Full specifications and detailed photographs help encourage buyers from further afield to travel to view a boat.
Presentation.
Presentation is key to creating the right impression. A badly presented boat will automatically lower the price.
Make sure the hull is as clean as you can get it, hire a professional if necessary.
Make sure the interior is clean and tidy with no clutter.
Your boat will sell if you present it correctly. Imagine you were going to view it!
Price.
The asking price?
Ask us for an honest appraisal of the value of your boat in the current market. It is essential that the asking price is accurate and representative of the current market for your particular boat.
Many boats have been for sale for months and sometimes even years and this can be down to pricing as much as to presentation.
When looking to sell your boat be aware of the cost of not selling her - the cost of maintenance and the cost of storage or berthing.
Do not be tempted to ask for a high price believing that you can drop to a sensible value when negotiating. The higher the price, the fewer the viewers - the fewer the viewers, the less chance of selling. You will sell your boat far quicker by asking for a fair market place price.
Finally - where should she be?
We are happy to market almost any boat provided she is sensibly priced and we feel we will be able to sell her.
Boats sell much easier if they are berthed with us while on the market.
Make sure your boat is easy to view. Again, the more viewers you have the quicker she will sell.
