How to sell your boat

How to Sell a Boat.
There are three key elements
    Use a broker
    Presentation
    Price

As brokers Nick Stratton Yachts Ltd. can offer:
Advice on how to prepare your boat.
Honest estimate of current market value.
Inspection of your boat by an experienced broker.
    Photographs.
    Sales information pack.
    Extensive marketing contacts.
    Discounted storage and/or marina berths.
    To arrange regular cleaning.

As your broker it is our job to sell your boat as quickly as possible, for as high a price as possible.

We have an active database of people looking to purchase yachts and it may well be that we have already been speaking to someone who is looking for your boat!

We will also advertise your boat in an effort to attract as much interest as possible.

Today we find that almost 75% of our enquiries come from internet advertising.

We subscribe to One of the largest databases available ensuring that your boat's details are made available to buyers throughout the UK and across Europe. Full specifications and detailed photographs help encourage buyers from further afield to travel to view a boat.

Presentation.

Presentation is key to creating the right impression. A badly presented boat will automatically lower the price.

Make sure the hull is as clean as you can get it, hire a professional if necessary.

Make sure the interior is clean and tidy with no clutter.

Your boat will sell if you present it correctly. Imagine you were going to view it!
If you are naturaly untidy imagine your tidiest, most obsessional friend was coming to buy it. Whatever you do make sure it is clean!

Price.

The asking price?

Ask us for an honest appraisal of the value of your boat in the current market. It is esential that the asking price is accurate and representitive of the current maket for your particular boat.

Many boats have been for sale for months and sometimes even years and this can be down to pricing as much as to presentation.

When looking to sell your boat be aware of the cost of not selling her - the cost of maintenance, of the mooring or storage ashore and the interest lost by not having the money in the bank. This can easily add up to hundreds of pounds per month.

Do not be tempted to ask for a high price believing that you can drop to a sensible value when negotiating. The higher the price, the fewer the viewers, the fewer the viewers, the less chance of selling. You will sell your boat far quicker by asking for a fair market place price.

Finally - where should she be?

We are happy to market almost any boat provided she is sensibly priced and we feel we will be able to sell her.

Boats sell much easier if they are berthed with us while on the market. We get to show her to customers who turn up but may not have her on their list but who are not likely to travel out of their way.

Make sure your boat is easy to view. Again, the more viewers you have the quicker she will sell.
