Selling Costs: We charge a fee at the point of sale on the final sale price. There is no initial outlay required for us to take your boat on and in addition we can offer discounted berthing or storage ashore rates at Rhu for boats on our brokerage. The Buying Process. Buying a boat is not something you do very often. Unlike buying a house, the purchase of a boat is largely unregulated therefore it is advisable to buy through a reputable broker who will guide you through the process and ensure your purchase goes as smoothly as posible with all the legal paperwork controlled. Once you have found a boat that meets your needs and budget: Make an offer via the broker; often the offer is 'subject to survey'. If it is accepted - pay a 10% deposit, with an agreement signed by both parties. The money is held in a client account and is refundable if the survey is unsatisfactory and any renegotiation of the price is unsuccessful. Arrange a survey. If successful the sale is agreed and the final balance is paid to the broker. Once funds are received by the broker (and cleared) the 'Bill of Sale' is completed which transfers legal title to the new owner. Sale proceeds are paid to the seller, less broker's fees and the 'Bill of Sale' is handed over to the new owner.
